January 2010

The following newsletter outlines the news from the Superstructure Group AQD team up to January 2010.

New AQD Customers - A warm welcome
A warm welcome to all our new customers who have recently joined the AQD Customer Community.  The breadth and depth of customers using AQD continues to expand with the addition of Air Tankers, a service company that provides safe, reliable air-to-air refuelling and air transport capabilities to the Royal Air Force.  Olympic Air chose AQD as the best practice SMS software that integrates seamlessly with their FDM system.  First Air, one of Canada's largest air carriers, selected AQD after extensively reviewing the market and evaluating a number of systems in a formal tender process.

Customers upgrading to AQD version 7
AQD version 7 represents a major investment for Superstructure Group in the AQD technology platform based on our fully web-based Microsoft .Net deployment for AQD.  The AQD Portal uses the latest web developments and design to deliver a standard approach and simplified interface with increased functionality across the application.  We urge you to upgrade free of charge as soon as is practically possible to position yourself for the new modules under the AQD Portal release.  For further information on the upgrade and any training requirements please contact Alan Rutter: alan.rutter@superstructuregroup.com.

AQD, the framework for risk-based SMS
Superstructure Group launches another world-first product with the new AQD Risk Management module designed for organisations who want to take a risk-based approach to safety management as defined by ICAO, and integrate proactive and reactive risk assessment within their daily workflow process using AQD.

AQD provides a consistent approach to managing risks associated with any business activity across your organisation including changes to operations, incident reporting, investigations and audits. By integrating risk management into the AQD causal factor analysis and action tracking framework for audits and investigations, you can leverage your existing business practices in a cycle of continuous improvement.  This means a single repository for analysis and executive reporting across the organisation.

AQD additional modules
AQD has a number of additional modules that many of our customers rely on to support their daily operations:
  • Risk Management (*New*) combining reactive risk reporting and pro-active risk/hazard identification for centralised risk management, risk assessments, risk mitigation and risk/hazard registers providing enhanced risk analysis and reporting at a departmental and corporate level.

IATA STEADES participation reaches 100 airlines

STEADES has seen tremendous growth these past years from 41 airlines in 2007 to 100 airlines in 2009.  Each additional airline that contributes data to STEADES enables IATA to gain better insight and airlines to gain an improved tool for measuring safety performance.  Superstructure Group is a STEADES preferred partner.  The AQD STEADES interface has been certified by IATA for sending de-identified safety information electronically to STEADES.

Airlines use STEADES analyses within their Safety Management Systems to drive their safety committee meetings, anticipate issues at airports of new routes and benchmark their safety performance against others.  Participation is free of charge.  steades@iata.org
