First Air, the leading provider of passenger and cargo services to Canada’s
northern communities in Nunavut, Nunavik and Northwest Territories with
connections to Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg and Edmonton, selected AQD in late
2009 after evaluating a number of systems in a formal tender process.
We are very pleased with the selection of AQD, the application has met all of
our functionality needs and was much easier to implement than expected.
From the onset, the training and support staff at Superstructure were very
helpful; they provided us with the guidance and direction needed to complete
the setup and installation on schedule. In addition, the flexibility offered by
the application allowed us to tailor the online forms and workflow to our
existing Safety Management System (SMS) processes.
The benefits of AQD for First Air have been numerous; web reporting, electronic
recording of investigation results, built-in risk assessment functionality,
audit management tools, action tracking, to name a few. However, the most
important benefit is the ability to effectively monitor, trend, and analyze the
vast amount of data we collect.
With AQD’s built-in reporting and analysis tools we are able to effectively
monitor the status of investigations, audit findings, and actions; trend
occurrences; and prepare a comprehensive safety risk profile, as an example:
-
Managers at all levels of our organization are able to login to AQD and view
work assignments, which is displayed on the Active Issues Manager (AIM) screen;
-
A monthly safety performance report is easily generated and shared with the
leadership team – this report is used for ongoing monitoring and trending of
key performance indicators;
-
Using the analysis capabilities of AQD we are able to create a comprehensive
safety risk profile - the safety risk profile is used, in part, to develop
strategic improvement plans.
We believe that our SMS is more effective as a result of the implementation of
AQD. We are looking forward to a long lasting relationship with Superstructure
as we seek out additional uses for AQD.
